Luke 1:1-25 (Good News Translation) 1Dear Theophilus:          Many people have done their best to write a report of the things that have taken place among us.           2They wrote what we have been told by those who saw these things from the beginning and who proclaimed the message.           3And so, Your Excellency, because I have carefully studied all these matters from their beginning, I thought it would be good to write an orderly account for you.           4I do this so that you will know the full truth about everything which you have been taught.           5During the time when Herod was king of Judea,           there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly order of Abijah. Psalm 65.1-13 (A psalm by David and a song for the music leader.) God Answers Prayer Our God, you deserve praise in Zion, where we keep our promises to you. Everyone will come to you because you answer prayer. Our terrible sins get us down, but you forgive us. You bless your chosen ones, and you invite them to live near you in your temple. You are strong, and your mighty power put the mountains in place. You silence the roaring waves and the noisy shouts of the nations. People far away marvel at your fearsome deeds, and all who live under the sun celebrate and sing because of you. You take care of the earth and send rain to help the soil grow all kinds of crops. Your rivers never run dry, and you prepare the earth to produce much grain. You water all of its fields and level the lumpy ground...
