Jesus Condemns the Pharisees and the Teachers of the Law of Moses
"Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: The Pharisees and the
teachers of the Law are experts in the Law of Moses. So obey
everything they teach you, but don't do as they do. After all, they
say one thing and do something else. They pile heavy burdens on
people's shoulders and won't lift a finger to help. Everything they
do is just to show off in front of others. They even make a big show
of wearing Scripture verses on their foreheads and arms, and they wear
big tassels for everyone to see. They love the best seats at banquets
and the front seats in the meeting places. And when they are in the
market, they like to have people greet them as their teachers. But
none of you should be called a teacher. You have only one teacher, and
all of you are like brothers and sisters. Don't call anyone on earth
your father. All of you have the same Father in heaven. Non

1 John 4.1-12 God Is Love "Dear friends, don't believe everyone who claims to have the Spirit of God. Test them all to find out if they really do come from God. Many false prophets have already gone out into the world, and you can know which ones come from God. His Spirit says that Jesus Christ had a truly human body. But when someone doesn't say this about Jesus, you know that person has a spirit that doesn't come from God and is the enemy of Christ. You knew that this enemy was coming into the world and now is already here. Children, you belong to God, and you have defeated these enemies. God's Spirit is in you and is more powerful than the one that is in the world. These enemies belong to this world, and the world listens to them, because they speak its language. We belong to God, and everyone who knows God will listen to us. But the people who don't know God won't listen to us. That is how we can tell the Spirit that speaks the truth

Israel Crosses the Jordan River
"Early the next morning, Joshua and the Israelites packed up and left
Acacia. They went to the Jordan River and camped there that night.
Two days later their leaders went through the camp, - shouting, "When
you see some of the priests carrying the sacred chest, you'll know it
is time to cross to the other side. You've never been there before,
and you won't know the way, unless you follow the chest. But don't get
too close! Stay about half a mile back."Joshua told the people, "Make
yourselves acceptable to worship the Lord, because he is going to do
some amazing things for us." Then Joshua turned to the priests and
said, "Take the chest and cross the Jordan River ahead of us." So the
priests picked up the chest by its carrying poles and went on ahead.
The Lord told Joshua, "Beginning today I will show the people that you
are their leader, and they will know that I am hel

A Tree and Its Fruit
"Watch out for false prophets! They dress up like sheep, but inside
they are wolves who have come to attack you. You can tell what they
are by what they do. No one picks grapes or figs from thornbushes. A
good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit. A
good tree cannot produce bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot produce good
fruit. Every tree that produces bad fruit will be chopped down and
burned. You can tell who the false prophets are by their deeds.
A Warning
Not everyone who calls me their Lord will get into the kingdom of
heaven. Only the ones who obey my Father in heaven will get in. On
the day of judgment many will call me their Lord. They will say, "We
preached in your name, and in your name we forced out demons and
worked many miracles." But I will tell them, "I will have nothing to
do with you! Get out of my sight, you evil people!"

Humility
And He said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like
little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in
the kingdom of heaven. "And whoever welcomes a little child like this
in my name welcomes me."

There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.

But he gives more grace; therefore it says, "God opposes the proud,
but gives grace to the humble." Submit yourselves therefore to God.
Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and he
will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify
your hearts, you men of double mind.

Judging Others
Don't condemn others, and God won't condemn you. God will be as hard
on you as you are on others! He will treat you exactly as you treat
them. You can see the speck in your friend's eye, but you don't notice
the log in your own eye. How can you say, "My friend, let me take the
speck out of your eye," when you don't see the log in your own eye?
You're nothing but show-offs! First, take the log out of your own eye.
Then you can see how to take the speck out of your friend's eye. Don't
give to dogs what belongs to God. They will only turn and attack you.
Don't throw pearls down in front of pigs. They will trample all over
them.

Personal Instructions
"Come to see me as soon as you can. Demas loves the things of this
world so much that he left me and went to Thessalonica. Crescens has
gone to Galatia, and Titus has gone to Dalmatia. Only Luke has stayed
with me. Mark can be very helpful to me, so please find him and bring
him with you. I sent Tychicus to Ephesus. When you come, bring the
coat I left at Troas with Carpus. Don't forget to bring the scrolls,
especially the ones made of leather. Alexander, the metalworker, has
hurt me in many ways. But the Lord will pay him back for what he has
done. Alexander opposes what we preach. You had better watch out for
him. When I was first put on trial, no one helped me. In fact,
everyone deserted me. I hope it won't be held against them. But the
Lord stood beside me. He gave me the strength to tell his full
message, so that all Gentiles would hear it. And I was kept safe from
hungry lions. The Lord will always keep me

Paying Taxes
"The Pharisees got together and planned how they could trick Jesus
into saying something wrong. They sent some of their followers and
some of Herod's followers to say to him, "Teacher, we know that you
are honest. You teach the truth about what God wants people to do. And
you treat everyone with the same respect, no matter who they are.
Tell us what you think! Should we pay taxes to the Emperor or not?"
Jesus knew their evil thoughts and said, "Why are you trying to test
me? You show-offs! Let me see one of the coins used for paying
taxes." They brought him a silver coin, and he asked, "Whose picture
and name are on it?"
"The Emperor's," they answered. Then Jesus told them, "Give the
Emperor what belongs to him and give God what belongs to God." His
answer surprised them so much that they walked away.

The Thessalonians' Faith and Example
My dear friends, God loves you, and we know he has chosen you to be
his people. When we told you the good news, it was with the power and
assurance that come from the Holy Spirit, and not simply with words.
You knew what kind of people we were and how we helped you. So, when
you accepted the message, you followed our example and the example of
the Lord. You suffered, but the Holy Spirit made you glad. You became
an example for all the Lord's followers in Macedonia and Achaia. And

The Lord Alone Can Save
My people, I, the Lord, promise that the riches of Egypt and the
treasures of Ethiopia will belong to you. You will force into slavery
those tall people of Seba. They will bow down and say, "The only true
God is with you; there are no other gods." People of Israel, your God
is a mystery, though he alone can save. Anyone who makes idols will be
confused and terribly disgraced. But Israel, I, the Lord, will always
keep you safe and free from shame.
Everyone Is Invited
The Lord alone is God! He created the heavens and made a world where
people can live, instead of creating an empty desert. The Lord alone
is God; there are no others. The Lord did not speak in a dark secret
place or command Jacob's descendants to search for him in vain. The
Lord speaks the truth, and this is what he says to every survivor from
every nation: "Gather around me! Learn how senseless it is to worship
wooden idols or pray to helpless

The Great Banquet
Once again Jesus used stories to teach the people: The kingdom of
heaven is like what happened when a king gave a wedding banquet for
his son. The king sent some servants to tell the invited guests to
come to the banquet, but the guests refused. He sent other servants
to say to the guests, "The banquet is ready! My cattle and prize
calves have all been prepared. Everything is ready. Come to the
banquet!" But the guests did not pay any attention. Some of them left
for their farms, and some went to their places of business. Others
grabbed the servants, then beat them up and killed them. This made the
king so furious that he sent an army to kill those murderers and burn
down their city. Then he said to the servants, "It is time for the
wedding banquet, and the invited guests don't deserve to come. Go out
to the street corners and tell everyone you meet to come to the
banquet." They went out on the streets and

The Money for God's People
I don't need to write you about the money you plan to give for God's
people. I know how eager you are to give. And I have proudly told the
Lord's followers in Macedonia that you people in Achaia have been
ready for a whole year. Now your desire to give has made them want to
give. That's why I am sending Titus and the two others to you. I want
you to be ready, just as I promised. This will prove that we were not
wrong to brag about you. Some followers from Macedonia may come with
me, and I want them to find that you have the money ready. If you
don't, I would be embarrassed for trusting you to do this. But you
would be embarrassed even more. So I have decided to ask Titus and
the others to spend some time with you before I arrive. This way they
can arrange to collect the money you have promised. Then you will have
the chance to give because you want to, and not because you feel
forced to. Remembe

"Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has
blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in
Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world,
that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having
predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself,
according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory
of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved."
Father God, forgive my sins. Thank you for sending Jesus Christ down
to die on the cross and for shedding his blood for me. Three days
later you resurrected him. I accept that. In Invite Jesus Christ into
my heart as my Lord and savior. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
God bless you.

In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need
someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over

righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use
have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

Concerning Self Denial
Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he
must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever
wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me

his soul?

Renters of a Vineyard
"Jesus told the chief priests and leaders to listen to this story:A
land owner once planted a vineyard. He built a wall around it and dug
a pit to crush the grapes in. He also built a lookout tower. Then he
rented out his vineyard and left the country. When it was harvest
time, the owner sent some servants to get his share of the grapes.
But the renters grabbed those servants. They beat up one, killed one,
and stoned one of them to death. He then sent more servants than he
did the first time. But the renters treated them in the same way.
Finally, the owner sent his own son to the renters, because he thought
they would respect him. But when they saw the man's son, they said,
"Someday he will own the vineyard. Let's kill him! Then we can have it
all for ourselves." So they grabbed him, threw him out of the
vineyard, and killed him. Jesus asked, "When the owner of that
vineyard comes, what do you suppos
