Philemon 1:1-25.

Philemon 1:1-25 (Good News Translation)  1From Paul, a prisoner for the sake of Christ Jesus, and from our brother Timothy—          To our friend and fellow worker Philemon,           2and the church that meets in your house, and our sister Apphia, and our fellow soldier Archippus:           3May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.           4Brother Philemon, every time I pray, I mention you and give thanks to my God.           5For I hear of your love for all of God's people and the faith you have in the Lord Jesus.           6My prayer is that our fellowship with you as believers will bring about a deeper understanding of every blessing which we have in our life in union with Christ.           7Your love, dear brother, has brought me great joy and much encouragement! You have cheered the hearts of all of God's people.           8For this reason I could be bold enough, as your brother in Christ, to order you to do what should be done.

John 10:1-21.

John 10:1-21 (Good News Translation)   1Jesus said,          "I am telling you the truth: the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in some other way, is a thief and a robber.           2The man who goes in through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.           3The gatekeeper opens the gate for him; the sheep hear his voice as he calls his own sheep by name, and he leads them out.           4When he has brought them out, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice.           5They will not follow someone else; instead, they will run away from such a person, because they do not know his voice.          "           6Jesus told them this parable, but they did not understand what he meant.           7So Jesus said again,          "I am telling you the truth: I am the gate for the sheep.           8All others who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them.           9I am the ga

John 8:1-20.

John 8:1-20 (Good News Translation)  1Then everyone went home, but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.           2Early the next morning he went back to the Temple. All the people gathered around him, and he sat down and began to teach them.           3The teachers of the Law and the Pharisees brought in a woman who had been caught committing adultery, and they made her stand before them all.           4"Teacher," they said to Jesus,          "this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery.           5In our Law Moses commanded that such a woman must be stoned to death. Now, what do you say?          "           6They said this to trap Jesus, so that they could accuse him. But he bent over and wrote on the ground with his finger.           7As they stood there asking him questions, he straightened up and said to them,          "Whichever one of you has committed no sin may throw the first stone at her."           8Then he bent over again

Luke 15:11-32.

Luke 15:11-32 (Good News Translation)  11Jesus went on to say,          "There was once a man who had two sons.           12The younger one said to him,          "Father, give me my share of the property now." So the man divided his property between his two sons.           13After a few days the younger son sold his part of the property and left home with the money. He went to a country far away, where he wasted his money in reckless living.           14He spent everything he had. Then a severe famine spread over that country, and he was left without a thing.           15So he went to work for one of the citizens of that country, who sent him out to his farm to take care of the pigs.           16He wished he could fill himself with the bean pods the pigs ate, but no one gave him anything to eat.           17At last he came to his senses and said,          'All my father's hired workers have more than they can eat, and here I am about to starve!           18I

Luke 14:1-14.

Luke 14:1-14 (Good News Translation)  1One Sabbath Jesus went to eat a meal at the home of one of the leading Pharisees; and people were watching Jesus closely.           2A man whose legs and arms were swollen came to Jesus,           3and Jesus spoke up and asked the teachers of the Law and the Pharisees,          "Does our Law allow healing on the Sabbath or not?"           4But they would not say a thing. Jesus took the man, healed him, and sent him away.           5Then he said to them,          "If any one of you had a child or an ox that happened to fall in a well on a Sabbath, would you not pull it out at once on the Sabbath itself"           6But they were not able to answer him about this.           7Jesus noticed how some of the guests were choosing the best places, so he told this parable to all of them:           8"When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not sit down in the best place. It could happen that someone more important than y

Matthew 18:21-35

Matthew 18:21-35 (Good News Translation)           21Then Peter came to Jesus and asked,          "Lord, if my brother keeps on sinning against me, how many times do I have to forgive him? Seven times?"           22"No, not seven times," answered Jesus,          "but seventy times seven,           23because the Kingdom of heaven is like this. Once there was a king who decided to check on his servants' accounts.           24He had just begun to do so when one of them was brought in who owed him millions of dollars.           25The servant did not have enough to pay his debt, so the king ordered him to be sold as a slave, with his wife and his children and all that he had, in order to pay the debt.           26The servant fell on his knees before the king.          "Be patient with me," he begged,          "and I will pay you everything!"           27The king felt sorry for him, so he forgave him the debt and let him go.           28T

Jeremiah 31:23-40.(GNT).

Jeremiah 31:23-40 (Good News Translation)  23The          LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says,          "When I restore the people to their land, they will once again say in the land of Judah and in its towns,                           'May the              LORD bless the sacred hill               of Jerusalem,             the holy place where he lives.'               24People will live in Judah and in all its towns, and there will be farmers, and shepherds with their flocks.           25I will refresh those who are weary and will satisfy with food everyone who is weak from hunger.           26So then, people will say,          "I went to sleep and woke up refreshed."           27I, the          LORD, say that the time is coming when I will fill the land of Israel and Judah with people and animals.           28And just as I took care to uproot, to pull down, to overthrow, to destroy, and to demolish them, so I will take care to plant them and to build the

Luke 19:1-10.

"He entered Jericho and was passing through. An there was a man called by the name of Zaccheus; he was a chief tax collecter and he was rich. Zaccheus was trying to see who Jesus was, and was unable because of the crowd, for he was small in stature. So he ran on ahead and climed up into a sycamore tree in order to see Him, for He was about to pass through that way. When Jesus came to the place he looked up and to him, 'Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.' And he hurried and came down and received Him gladly. When they saw it, they all began to grumble, saying, 'He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.' Zaccheus stopped and said to the Lord, 'Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I will give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will give back four times as much.' And Jesus said to him, 'Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man has co

Exodus 14:1-31.

Exodus 14:1-31 (Good News Translation)  1Then the          LORD said to Moses,           2"Tell the Israelites to turn back and camp in front of Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the Red Sea, near Baal Zephon.           3The king will think that the Israelites are wandering around in the country and are closed in by the desert.           4I will make him stubborn, and he will pursue you, and my victory over the king and his army will bring me honor. Then the Egyptians will know that I am the          LORD.          " The Israelites did as they were told.           5When the king of Egypt was told that the people had escaped, he and his officials changed their minds and said,          "What have we done? We have let the Israelites escape, and we have lost them as our slaves!"           6The king got his war chariot and his army ready.           7He set out with all his chariots, including the six hundred finest, commanded by their officers.           8The

Genesis 33:1-20

Genesis 33:1-20 (Good News Translation) 1Jacob saw Esau coming with his four hundred men, so he divided the children among Leah, Rachel, and the two concubines.           2He put the concubines and their children first, then Leah and her children, and finally Rachel and Joseph at the rear.           3Jacob went ahead of them and bowed down to the ground seven times as he approached his brother.           4But Esau ran to meet him, threw his arms around him, and kissed him. They were both crying.           5When Esau looked around and saw the women and the children, he asked,          "Who are these people with you?"          "These, sir, are the children whom God has been good enough to give me," Jacob answered.           6Then the concubines came up with their children and bowed down;           7then Leah and her children came, and last of all Joseph and Rachel came and bowed down.           8Esau asked,          "What about that other group I met? Genesis 32:1-21.

Genesis 32:1-21 (Good News Translation)  1As Jacob went on his way, some angels met him.           2When he saw them, he said,          "This is God's camp"; so he named the place Mahanaim.           3Jacob sent messengers ahead of him to his brother Esau in the country of Edom.           4He instructed them to say:          "I, Jacob, your obedient servant, report to my master Esau that I have been staying with Laban and that I have delayed my return until now.           5I own cattle, donkeys, sheep, goats, and slaves. I am sending you word, sir, in the hope of gaining your favor.          "           6When the messengers came back to Jacob, they said,          "We went to your brother Esau, and he is already on his way to meet you. He has four hundred men with him."           7Jacob was frightened and worried. He divided into two groups the people who were with him, and also his sheep, goats, cattle, and camels.           8He thought,

Genesis 22:1-19

Genesis 22:1-19 (Good News Translation)           1Some time later God tested Abraham; he called to him,          "Abraham!" And Abraham answered,          "Yes, here I am!"           2"Take your son," God said,          "your only son, Isaac, whom you love so much, and go to the land of Moriah. There on a mountain that I will show you, offer him as a sacrifice to me."           3Early the next morning Abraham cut some wood for the sacrifice, loaded his donkey, and took Isaac and two servants with him. They started out for the place that God had told him about.           4On the third day Abraham saw the place in the distance.           5Then he said to the servants,          "Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go over there and worship, and then we will come back to you."           6Abraham made Isaac carry the wood for the sacrifice, and he himself carried a knife and live coals for starting the fire. As they walked a

Genesis 13:1-18.

Genesis 13:1-18 (Good News Translation) 1Abram went north out of Egypt to the southern part of Canaan with his wife and everything he owned, and Lot went with him.           2Abram was a very rich man, with sheep, goats, and cattle, as well as silver and gold.           3Then he left there and moved from place to place, going toward Bethel. He reached the place between Bethel and Ai where he had camped before           4and had built an altar. There he worshiped the          LORD.           5Lot also had sheep, goats, and cattle, as well as his own family and servants.           6And so there was not enough pasture land for the two of them to stay together, because they had too many animals.           7So quarrels broke out between the men who took care of Abram's animals and those who took care of Lot's animals. (At that time the Canaanites and the Perizzites were still living in the land.)           8Then Abram said to Lot,          "We are relatives, and your men a
